Film

Bogna Burska (born 1974) is a graduate of Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts. As a apainter, director, photographer and installation artist, she draws her inspiration from mainstream cinema and its references to a general system of values, beliefs and views of reality, representing stereotypical attitudes and behavior.

A Thousand Deaths (2011) is an attempt to reconstruct the biography of Elizabeth I, an iconic role played by many actresses throughout the years. The film refers to a variety of games fought both in the area of power, social roles, as well as cultural gender stereotypes, creating a multilayered portrait of a woman who struggled with conventions, prejudice and her own desires and emotions in a game of life and death.
