The author of "Black Square" will participate in the 15th International Poetry Festival in Stockholm. The current edition celebrates the poetry of this year's Laureate of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Tomas Tranströmer. Together with other artists from Egypt, Libya, Romania and Sweden, Tadeusz Dąbrowski presents his poems at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm on the 24th of November 2011
The International Poetry Festival in Stockholm has been the meeting point of international artists for whom 'the word' is the source of inspiration since 1997. Today, as the most recognised poetry festival in Scandinavia, it continues to bring together the most innovative poets, musicians, actors, dancers and performers, who have so far not been introduced to the Swedish audience. Among the participating artists of this year's edition is Tadeusz Dąbrowski, 32-year old Polish poet, whose latest collection of poems entitled "Black Square" was nominated for 2010 Nike Literary Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for Polish literature.
In addition to being a poet widely published in leading Polish magazines and international periodicals such as the Harvard Review, Tin House, Crazy Horse and many others, Dąbrowski has also made a name for himself as a critic, essayist and editor-in-chief of the bimonthly literary journal "Topos". He is a recipient of many scholarships and international awards such as Kościelski Award (2009), Hubert-Burda-Preis (2008), the Polish Culture Foundation Award (2006) and the Splendor Gedanesis (2007). His poetry has been translated into many languages and was featured in prominent magazines, including Poetry Wales, Boston Review, and American Poetry Review. His latest volume of poems "Black Square" was translated into English by the award-winning translator, Antonia Lloyd-Jones, and published by the American Zephyr Press publishing house with cover recommendations by Adam Zagajewski and Timothy Donnelly, a poet and editor of the Boston Review.
To the already versatile blend of artistic expressions featured at the International Poetry Festival in Stockholm, Dąbrowski will contribute what the jury of the Kościelski Award recognised as "original poetics expressed in the courage to explore difficult artistic aspects and world views".
The event takes place on the 24th of November 2011 from 18:00 to 22:00 at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
