novart.pl - edition 2002
Krakow, June 14 - August 11, 2002
languages: Polski  / English

novart.pl - edition 2002 consists of the exhibition LOOK AT ME / SPOJRZ NA MNIE and of many accompanying events, including exhibitions, concerts, and actions in public spaces.

The Festival of Young Art novart.pl - edition 2002 - is the first event in Poland to be devoted in its entirety to artists of the youngest generation and simultaneously to venture beyond exhibition rooms into the public space, encompassing almost all of Krakow. The aim of novart.pl is to present the work of young people who are likely to play a significant role in art in the near future. The event also strives to act as a springboard for these artists' careers.

novart.pl - edition 2002 will consist of the exhibition LOOK AT ME / SPOJRZ NA MNIE and of many accompanying events, including exhibitions, concerts, and actions in public spaces. Almost 40 artists from all over Poland have been invited to participate, each employing and exploring different creative means, from performance and image-based art (video, photography, computer animations) to expression that combines a variety of techniques. Curators responsible for assembling the event are aged similarly to the participating artists and though they are clearly all members of the young generation, many do have significant achievements to their credit.

Particularly noteworthy accompanying events are a series of solo exhibitions at a range of Krakow galleries. These will include an exhibition of the works of Pawel Ksiazek at the Bumper Gallery (Galeria Zderzak), an exhibition by Jadwiga Sawicka and Dorota Podlaska at the Open Studio (Otwarta Pracownia), a show by Magdalena Poprawska at the Potocka Gallery (Galeria Potocka), and the works of Grzegorz Sztwiertnia at the Art Bunker (Bunkier Sztuki). Additional events will also be organized by the Prism Gallery (Galeria Pryzmat), the Krzysztofory Gallery, and the dance clubs Miasto Krakoff and Beautiful Dog (Piekny Pies).
