Francisco Goya, "A Scene from the Spanish War of Independence", ca. 1810, photo: organizers' materials
The masterpiece from the collection of the National Museum in Kraków, Leonardo da Vinci's "Lady with an Ermine" will be shown at the Museum of Arts (Szepmuveszeti Muzeum) in Budapest. The Czartoryski Foundation, the owner of the painting agreed to lend it to the Budapest Museum for the time of "From Botticelli to Titian" exhibition. The painting will remain in Szepmuveszeti Muzeum until February, 2010.

On its part, the Hungarian museum will show in Kraków one of its most precious works, the Francesco Goya's "Scene from the Spanish War of Independence". Goya painted it in 1810, four years before the famous "The Third of May, 1808. The Execution of the Defenders of Madrid", on display in Prado, Madrid.

The exhibition "Goya. 'The Sleep of Reason...' " takes us into the very center of Goya's obscure and mysterious art. Starting from November 20, the room where formerly "Lady with an Ermine" hung, will display the Budapest masterpiece, along with selected prints from the series "The Disasters of War". The original prints were presented to the National Museum in Kraków by Feliks "Manggha" Jasieński.

The exhibition open until February 21, 2010.
