The International Computer Art Biennial has taken place in Rzeszow since 1994.

The International Computer Art Biennial has taken place in Rzeszow since 1994. The person behind the very conception of the event and also its organizer is Zbigniew Rybka, the director of the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszow.

Every two years Rzeszow becomes a true hub of the world's computer art: the exhibition has been reviewed in professional magazines of international circulation, and its collection has been opened to the public at the galleries of Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, USA and Ukraine.

 


6th International Computer Art Biennial - Rzeszów 2004

The jury of the 6th International Computer Art Biennial – Rzeszów 2004 consisted of: Jean Pierre Malivoir (France), Finn Nygaard (Denmark), Ryszard Wasko (Poland), Juris Putrams (Latvia), Vladimir Vladimirov (Russia), Zbigniew Rybka (Poland) and Wladyslaw Serwatowski (Poland) – chairman, during the sitting on October, 9-10, in The Wanda Siemaszkowa Dramatic Theatre in Rzeszow, after viewing 404 artworks submitted by 89 authors decided to award following prizes:
  • The first prize to: Barbara Maciaga (Poland) for the artworks "Rose" (parts 6, 8, 9, 10, 14). For original synthesis of many art disciplins (painting, graphic, film) and unusual passion in creativity, which make the technology more human.
  • The second prize to: Chen Hong (China) for the artwork "Think"
  • The third prize to: Giichi & Miyako Okazaki (Japan) for the artwork "VISION I 'Ume = Plum' "
Jury decided to award: Jianping He (Berlin) for "75th Anniversary of China Academy of Art-1/2", Sascha Nikolaus for "Human Identity in 21st Century" and Lex Drewinski for "Lexicon A-Z (2004)", by the honorary mention.

The prize-giving ceremony and opening of the exhibition is going to take place on November 6, 2004, at 6 p.m., at the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre.

On Monday, September 20, the first Polish arena for the Euro 2012 Cup will open in Poznań. The official ceremony will be honoured with a concert featuring Sting performing with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Steven Mercurio.
Until September 25 (except for Sundays and holidays), the John the Baptist Archcathedral in Warsaw will host daily organ recitals as part of the 7th edition of the "Grand Organ of the Archicathedral" Festival.
"Dotyk człowieka/Beruehrungen" is the title of the exhibition presenting works of six Polish contemporary artists displayed at the German Embassy in Warsaw (Jazdów street): on view until September 27.
On October 17, the National Museum in Poznań will host the first public presentation of Claude Monet's "Beach in Pourville". The painting was stolen ten years ago. The painting returned to the museum in January 2010 after the folice found the thief.
Jazz pianist Chick Corea will give his only Polish solo concert on November 8 in Zabrze.
